TROLLEY Launch Event
On July, 1 2010 the launch event of the TROLLEY project took place in the city hall of Gdynia, Poland. On the launch event, the Lord Mayor of Gdynia Wojciech Szczurek, welcomed a number of high-profile individuals including the European Commission’s head of the Unit “Clean Transport, Urban Transport & Intelligent Transport Systems” Ms. Magda Kopczynska. After a site visit at the Trolleybus depot of Gdynia’s local operator Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Trolejbusowej (PKT) key note speeches were held followed by a panel discussion on “Innovations and Perspectives of Trolleybuses in Central Europe” with all TROLLEY partners in Gdynia’s city hall. In talks at the launch Event Ms. Magda Kopczynska from the European Commission said: “I am glad that the Central Europe programme is funding a project like TROLLEY, as trolleybuses are an intelligent, efficient and environmental-friendly transport mode. Best-practice transport solutions should come from Europe. If the TROLLEY project could achieve that the awareness for trolleybuses as an option for public transport in European cities is rising, this would be a great success!”
